The OST soundtrack for FOTR moves consistently through the movie in a linear fashion. But the music on the TTT OST jumps all over in relation to the movie and the ROTK does to some extent as well.  I've broken the tracks of TTT and ROTK down into scenes and then rearranged the sections to reconstruct the movie and the stories of the Fellowship within the movie.

The Two Towers

The music on the TTT soundtrack jumped around a lot.  The first part of a track might be used in one scene, the second part in another scene altogether, and a third part no where in the movie.  And when watching a scene, one could find the first few minutes on one track on the CD and the next few minutes on another. 

For someone who is addicted to organizing, it was a challenge.  How could the cues on the CD but taken apart and put back together to reflect their use in the movie?

The Return of the King

The music on the ROTK soundtrack did not jump around as much as in TTT, but it did a little. And, once I start something, the compulsion to finish it sets in.  The Fellowship is even more fragmented. It was a bit arbitrary who I chose to follow, but here it is.

I've reconstructed the Return of the King from the soundtrack CD within the following contexts.

The entire movie

Frodo and Sam's story (includes Gollum)

Aragorn's story (includes Legolas, Gimli, Arwen and Elrond.)

Merry and Pippin's stories (They each have on their own reconstruction on this page.)

Merry's includes Éowyn, Théoden, and the Rohirrim.

Pippin's includes Gandalf, Faramir, Denethor and Gondor.

Both includes events at the Black Gate. Although I didn't specifically describe what happened to them in this account.
